OECD 245: Honeybee (apis mellifera), chronic oral toxicity test
The OECD 245: Honeybee (apis mellifera), Chronic Oral Toxicity Test (10-day feeding) assesses the potential toxic effects of a substance when consumed regularly by a test population of honeybees over a 10-day period. Bees are regularly fed a sugar-water solution containing up to 50 % weight by volume of a test chemical, and assessed for mortalities and other adverse effects over the 10-day test period. This test, a key component of ecotoxicological assessments, can determine a substance's LC50 and LDD50 or NOEC and NOEDD.
